Phytochem is Phun!
This workshop offers a foundational overview of phytochemistry, designed to ease you into the subject before you delve into more complex studies.
-Understanding Phytochemistry:
– Explore the reasons why plants produce phytochemicals.
– Discuss their roles in plant health and their potential benefits for human health.
– Common Constituents:
– Identify and examine common phytochemicals
– Discover their properties and functions in both plants and humans.
– Tasting Experience
– Engage in a hands-on tasting session to experience the flavours and characteristics of various phytochemical-rich herbs
– Develop a sensory understanding of how these compounds influence taste and health.
This workshop aims to demystify the world of phytochem, equipping you with some theoretical knowledge and practical insights. By the end, you will feel more confident and prepared to explore the subject further without fear and prevent you from running out the room screaming.

Everything is connected, we might learn A&P by looking at individual body systems but in reality, it doesn’t work that way.

Naturopathy for M1 & 2 students, guests and members
Treating everyone as an individual – food intolerances and specialised diets.
Many people have trouble with their GI tract and digestion, which may be the underlying cause you are looking for when treating them. We will look beyond gluten intolerances and examine other suspect foods your client may be having trouble with. This workshop will include discussions and practical tasks. Please bring a week’s food diary with you.

Session 1: Medicinal Forest Garden – Walk & Talk. The session will include a Powerpoint presentation, walkabout, practical examples, handouts and group discussion.
Tutor: Anne Stobart
Author of The Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook: Growing, Harvesting and Using Healing Trees and Shrubs in a Temperate Climate. Anne is an experienced medical herbalist, herb grower, and co-founder of the Holt Wood project transforming a conifer plantation using permaculture design ideas into a medicinal forest garden. She has researched in the history of herbal medicine and published articles and books about seventeenth-century household medicine and recipes. Anne is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Exeter, UK.
