‘Training Professional Herbalists since 1949‘
Herbs have been the traditional means of healing and restoring health for centuries and remain so in many countries to this day. In past cultures plant medicine has often been the domain of the wise woman in the village, who passed her knowledge down by word of mouth.
Today there is a growing interest in returning to plant medicine with a natural holistic approach to healing and be recognised as a professional.
A professional Medical Herbalist today studies for many years to acquire the knowledge to use plants to treat the root cause of the patients dis-ease. After which they carefully select and formulate a bespoke remedy for their individual needs.

Our Professional Practioner Herbalist course has the flexibility to maintain a traditional, holistic course that is relevant to modern practitioners of Western Herbal Medicine.
I love studying with the Birch School of Herbal Medicine. The course is challenging and in-depth, but the tutors have been really supportive if I’ve needed help. The lessons cover a huge variety of topics, and something that really stands out for me is the Naturopathic focus of the course, which creates a truly holistic approach to using herbal medicine. Best of all, I really feel part of a community of students and herbalists.

I’ve found the supportive and human approach to their studies is just what I need. They are steeped in a naturopathic, traditional nature and person centered approach whilst not overlooking the science and most importantly the needs of their students. I’m so looking forward to my journey and the in person meets too !

This course has completely shifted my perspective, teaching me to look past ‘weed’ myths and see wild plants as ancient healers growing right in my own garden. I have loved turning naturopathic lessons into sensory experiences e.g. like using hydro therapy and a plant-infused Epsom bath when I badly stub my toe. Learning to be intuitive has enabled me to move from just studying plants to truly experiencing their magic.
